Bringing files from your host machine into DaDesktop
One of the most commonly asked-for additions is the option to copy files directly from a trainer's personal laptop or desktop into a DaDesktop machine. These can include presentation slides, installation ISOs for use in a nested virtualisation setup that allows running multiple servers and desktops, or any other files relevant to the training session.
We've introduced a straightforward drag-and-drop file transfer feature in our newest Windows 10 and most Linux templates. This lets you simply move files from your host device—your own laptop or desktop—right into the DaDesktop environment.

For now, the transfer handles only one file at a time, but if you have several to move, just bundle them into a zip archive and drag that across as well. The process splits files into chunks for efficient delivery, and you'll get the best performance with a fast fibre internet connection. Any folders within the archive—for example, inside a zip file—are preserved exactly as they were.

In Linux templates, there isn't yet a desktop shortcut to the Uploads folder as you would see in Windows. Instead, you'll find your transferred files in:
/home/student/uploads-to-dadesktop
