FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)

1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (due to the need for MS Excel functions)

  1. No, MS Office is not included within DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). What you get is a DD VM and a training room.
  2. Trainers should arrange a free-trial account of MS Office for all attendees.
  3. Alternatively, delegates can use their own MS Office accounts.

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've made it easy to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. The only small downside is that only one file can be transferred at a time. But you can easily bundle all the files you need into a zip or archive and then copy that over to your DaDesktop machine.
  2. If you're using cloud storage, don't forget to log out from your cloud storage before cloning to all delegates.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you're using the Chrome browser, navigate to "chrome://settings/system" and disable the hardware acceleration option.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register state that trainers are not allowed to access the wiki.
  2. If you wish to submit content for the NobleProg wiki, please copy and paste it into an email to the trainer (a PDF is also acceptable).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?

Yes! Please whitelist any domains that match this pattern:

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.            https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. Trainers can begin by configuring the DD resources (RAM, CPUs, and Disk).
  2. Then install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to set up multiple virtual machines, along with networking between them.
  3. Once set up, you can clone to delegates within seconds.
  4. For assistance, contact DaDesktop Support.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It depends on the server hardware.
  2. For instance, 512GB RAM can support 512GB * 3.
  3. The maximum disk per server is 250GB, with up to 16 CPU threads per desktop; RAM configurations can be customized.

8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?

  1. Yes, recordings can now be downloaded by clicking the three small dots to the right of the video player.
  2. The video includes audio from the training room, if you used it.

9. Which browser should I used for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work perfectly.
  2. Other browsers, such as Internet Explorer, are not fully supported.

10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?

  1. Check your network connection, as DaDesktop's performance relies on your local connection speed.
  2. Verify the server location; when the coordinator creates the desktop, they will always pick a server near participants in Germany.
  3. Turn off your VPN or switch it to PAC mode. Also, disable any security applications—especially those that interfere with WebSocket connections, which are necessary for smooth DaDesktop operation.

11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network

Accessing Remote Desktop depends on Websocket

  1. It's possible your device is blocking it. Check any settings or configurations that might block Websocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, in proxy settings, if "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is enabled, Websocket won't work (because it assigns a proxy to the SOCKS host). Uncheck that option and leave "SOCKS host" blank. This should resolve the issue.
  2. Alternatively, the problem could be the network, not your device. You'll need to contact your network administrator to unblock Websocket.

12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?

  1. Please refer to this GPU page for details on GPU support.

13. Is there any potential issues or answers?

  1. Generally, using DaDesktop is similar to using a standard Windows or Linux machine, but there are a few minor issues that may occur when running specific software in a training environment, especially when cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?

  1. No, we do not offer support for Mac compatible programs or Mac emulation, primarily due to licensing concerns that often arise.
