Nested Virtualization Support in DaDesktop

Achieving optimal performance with nested virtualization in DaDesktop Germany is often challenging. Below, we outline which virtualization tools work best or are compatible across different DaDesktop environments.

Please reach out if you have any questions, and note that some tools like Virt Manager aren't available on all operating systems.

For additional guidance on using Virt Manager to create multiple sandboxed servers and/or desktops, click here.

Intel CPU Model: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2673 v3 @ 2.40GHz
AMD CPU Model: AMD EPYC 7502P 32-Core Processor
Windows: Windows 10
Linux: Ubuntu 20.04

VMware Workstation: 16 Pro, v16.1.1

Comments:

①: Guest acceleration using Intel VT-X or AMD virtualization is not supported. The option "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI" must be disabled under hardware processors.

②: The VirtualBox version installed in the guest must match the VirtualBox DKMS version on the host.

③: Running VirtualBox within LXC conflicts with KVM-based virtual machines, so all KVM instances on the host need to be stopped.

④: A soft lockup related to systemd-udevd was observed, causing slowness or freezing.
