DaDesktop

Frequently Asked Questions (DaDesktop for Training)

1. Is Excel available within DaDesktop (DD) for Power Bi and VBA? (Since MS Excel functions are needed)

  1. No, MS Office is not provided inside DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). We only supply a DD virtual machine and a training room.
  2. Trainers are expected to arrange a free trial of MS Office for all participants.
  3. Alternatively, delegates may use their personal MS Office accounts.

2. Can I transfer files from my local desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've provided a straightforward method to upload files from your own computer to the DD Desktop. The only minor restriction is that only a single file can be transferred at a time. But you can easily create a zip or archive containing all necessary files, which can then be copied over to your DaDesktop machine without hassle.
  2. When using cloud storage, remember to sign out of your cloud account before cloning the environment to all delegates.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you're using Chrome, navigate to "chrome://settings/system" and disable the hardware acceleration option.

4. Can trainers access the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, as stated in the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, trainers do not have wiki access.
  2. If you need to submit changes to the NobleProg wiki, copy and paste the content and email it to the trainer (a PDF is acceptable as well).

5. Which domains should be whitelisted for proxy or content/network filtering to ensure smooth operation?

Yes, please whitelist all domains matching this pattern:

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.             https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further inquiries, please reach out to DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I set up multiple desktops within DD, for example for Ansible training?

  1. First, the trainer can configure the DD environment by selecting appropriate RAM, CPU, and disk settings.
  2. Next, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to create multiple virtual machines and configure networking between them.
  3. Once setup is complete, you can instantly clone the environment to all delegates.
  4. For assistance, feel free to contact DaDesktop Support.

7. What is the server capacity like?

  1. It varies depending on server hardware.
  2. For instance, 512GB of RAM can be utilized up to 512GB multiplied by 3.
  3. Each server allows a maximum disk size of 250GB, with 16 CPU threads per desktop and customizable RAM configurations.

8. Is it possible to download videos from the training recordings?

  1. Yes, recordings can now be downloaded by clicking the three small dots on the right side of the video player.
  2. The video includes audio if you used the training room's microphone.

9. Which browser is recommended for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work seamlessly.
  2. Browsers such as Internet Explorer are not fully supported.

10. Why am I experiencing significant delays with DaDesktop?

  1. Verify your network speed, as DaDesktop performance relies on your local connection.
  2. Ensure the server location is nearby; coordinators typically select a server close to participants when creating desktops.
  3. Disable your VPN or switch it to PAC mode. Additionally, turn off any security software, particularly those that interfere with WebSocket functionality, which is essential for DaDesktop to run smoothly.

11. Websocket is blocked or unsupported on the network

Remote Desktop access relies on Websocket

  1. The issue might be on your device. Look for settings that block Websocket. For instance, on some Chromebooks, if proxy settings have "Use the same proxy for all protocols" enabled, Websocket won’t work because it assigns a proxy to the SOCKS host. Uncheck that option and leave the SOCKS host field empty. This should resolve the problem.
  2. It could also be the network, not the device. In that case, contact your network administrator to have Websocket unblocked.

12. What kind of GPU support is available, e.g., for 3D applications?

  1. Refer to this GPU page for details on GPU support.

13. Are there any known issues or workarounds?

  1. In general, using DaDesktop is similar to a regular Windows or Linux computer, but there are a few minor issues that can arise with certain software in a training context, particularly when cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac-compatible software or Mac emulation?

  1. No, we do not support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, mainly because of licensing concerns.
