Hyper-V Server

The majority of applications function perfectly when set up on a Fresh Start machine with DaDesktop (DD). However, a small number of applications encounter issues due to the cloning procedure and require additional steps to function properly.

This serves as a general guide for resolving application issues within Fresh Start. The exact steps may vary depending on your specific configuration.

Overview - Apply the fix on Fresh Start as described below. Hyper-V experiences duplicate MAC addresses with the External switch when cloned from the FreshStart machine. To address this, we either select the second pre-configured Intel network connection or remove the external switch in the FreshStart machine prior to cloning, as detailed in the steps that follow.
Fix Procedure
1. The Hyper-V Manager application is displayed below. Right-click to access the Virtual Switch Manager dialog.
2. In the Virtual Switch Manager dialog shown below, choose the 'External' switch, then select the Intel Pro /1000 network connection as illustrated. Note that this option is only available with newer Windows 10 templates, version 71 and above. Click OK, and save the configuration if prompted. Then, close the Hyper-V Manager.
3. Proceed with the FreshStart machine setup as needed. Once configuration is finished, shut down the machine from within the VM, ensuring it fully stops. Then, clone the FreshStart machine to the Trainer and Participant machines as necessary.
The Hyper-V server should now function correctly on both the Trainer and Participant machines. Without this adjustment, participants might view each other's machines instead of their own, due to the external network card cloning that results in duplicate MAC addresses with the External switch when cloned from the FreshStart machine.
